RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – A student from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will start the new year on an important commission in Austin.
Leroy Berrones-Soto is a sophomore social work major at UTRGV.
He has been appointed by the Health and Human Services Commission to the newly formed Behavioral Health Advisory Committee.
Berrones-Soto, who spent five years in foster care as a child, says he wants to advocate for those who cannot help themselves.
The UTRGV student is the only member on the committee from the Rio Grande Valley.
