This summer I was selected as one of Foster Angels of South Texas (FAST) 2021 Soaring Scholars!
The Soaring Scholars program is an annual scholarship awarded to help current or former foster youth with college-related expenses to ensure they can stay in school.
Only 50% of children in foster care graduate from high school. Of that 50%, only 2% go to college to complete a four-year degree.
I’m lucky to be part of that 2% that have made it through and that is thanks to the support of many people, agencies like FAST and of course the university.
